Yvonne and Trevor joined Chris and l for a brief holiday in Hobart (Tasmania), mainly to visit MONA - Museum of Old and New Art - on the Sunday. On Friday night we had a tapas meal, Saturday night a delicious meal at the Boat House restaurant at Cornelia Bay and on Sunday at the Rockwall restaurant in Salamanca Place with lunches at various locations.
I had to remember that MONA is a museum, not an art gallery, to make sense of the juxtaposition of ancient artefacts with contemporary installations. What became clear was the amazing diverse creativity of the participating artists. I enjoyed the visit.
Ony downside of the trip was an 8 hour wait for a replacement plane for the one we were supposed to come home in - aargh!
Go here for photos of the trip and here to see two short videos of MONA installations.
