Today Chris wanted to go for a train ride, so we decided to head to Williamstown which used to be the major cargo port of Melbourne in the late 1800s; lots of old buildings in the town. We caught a train to Flinders St and then another train to Williamstown via Newport. Williamstown is a suburb of Melbourne and is 8 km south-west from Melbourne's central business area. Pleasant walk from the station to the waterfront where we had lunch at one of the pubs.
Then a short walk to Gem Pier where we caught the ferry back to the centre of Melbourne - a 40 minute trip- onto another train and back to home. A delightful day all round with perfect weather.
