Off to Canada

Tomorrow we're off to Canada, where hopefully it's warmer than here. First stop is Vancouver to catch up with friends we've known since 1972; lunch at Bill & Bonnie's on Sunday, Bard on the Beach Tuesday, celibratory dinner on Wednesday and other assorted highjinks.

After that l take off for Northern Canada for another two week canoe trip; l think this might be my 7/8th trip with Canoe Arctic. I first canoed this river in 1989. Alex, the guide, and the nine clients take a 3 hour float plane trip to the drop off point and are picked up down river in 12 days. Five canoes with all our supplies and equipment and around 300 km from the nearest people. Hope to see wolves, musk ox, Barren Ground grizzlies and perhaps a caribou or two. At the time of the trip there should be masses of wild flowers, flightless Canada geese and massive amounts of mozzies. But it's a wonderful experience with 360 degree vistas; l love it. I'll post some photos when l get back.
