Back from two weeks with Grace visiting her son Kenji, his wife Mai and their son Jun in Rablay-sur-Layon. Kenji and Mai over the past years have been establishing themselves as makers of organic wines, working parcels of vines surrounding the small village of Rablay, with their wines distributed throughtout the world, including Australia. While there Grace and l visited several historical sites and several village markets.
It was lovely to sit in the sun outside Kenji and Mai’s house and listen to the local church bells chiming the hours and to wander the quiet streets of Rablay. Lovely meals with talking, mostly in French at lunchtimes, laughter and sampling Kenji and Mai’s wines. I learnt a lot about the production of organic wines. A busy time for Kenji and Mai and a delightful time for Grace and l - thanks Kenji and Mai.
